The Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo, on the Capitoline Hill. It is one of Rome's original seven hills and is near the Roman Forum, home to a bevy of ancient ruins.

Our first glimpse of the Forum. Many of the ruins here are 2,000 years old or older.
A building we saw on the way to the Capitoline Hill. Class, can anyone identify it?
A major accomplishment: We crossed this street. At many "crosswalks" in Rome, traffic does not stop. Instead, pedestrians have to find an opening, say a prayer, and stride across. Cars swerve or slow down if absolutely necessary. It is unsettling at first, but drivers seem to pay attention. When in doubt, wait for a local to cross and follow close behind.

Oooh ooh ooh! It's a picture of the Monument something something something Vittorio something Emanuel something. Looks like you're taking it from under that balcony where Mousselini would give speeches on the Piazza Venezia.

I actually believe that building is referred to as "the wedding cake" although that is not the official name. If I remember right it is their tomb of the unknown soldier.
